About
Hi, my name is Yuting Pu and I'm a Junior studying Digital Media Studies and Computer Science at the University of Rochester! Currently, I work as a graphic designer for SRG Management Firm and a graphic designer on the marketing team for the University of Rochester's Barbara J. Burger iZone library.
Before I became a designer, I got my start in fine art, where I was trained in traditional pencil drawings and oil painting. Growing up on the internet led me to experiment with digital art and other digital programs. I soon discovered my love for both graphic design and UI/UX design. My work now exists in the intersection of technology and art, where I embrace modern technology.
In my graphic design projects, I design for a variety of reasons—to market a good cause for my community, to push my creative abilities, or to bring my artistic vision to life. I often create work meant for both print and online production. Digital softwares like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop allow me to design precisely, efficiently, and easily. I’ll also incorporate my illustrations into my designs if it will enhance the creative message.
For my UI/UX projects, my main goal is to balance accessibility and aesthetics. My work in Melcourses, a website that helps University of Rochester’s students plan their courses easier, guides my motivations. I see the positive impact Melcourses has on my peers, which comes from the clean look, intuitive navigation, and easy use of our product. By designing for visuals and function, I create user interfaces and curate user experiences that look and feel satisfying.
I am driven to help people with my designs. Whether I’m creating a poster for financial aid projects, facilitating efficient academic planning, or simplifying language learning, I design with intention and user needs in mind.
